Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is famous for his smart and hard-edged parts in action films. He has been featured in films that grossed more than $2.5 billion USD. Walter Bruce Willis was born March 19, 1955 in the city of Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of whom were living at an United States military base. The family relocated to America within a short time after his birth. He grew up in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother worked as an employee at a bank, while his father was an electrician and worked in a factory. Willis developed an interest for the dramatic arts in high school. He was allegedly "discovered" when he was working at an establishment in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. He was bartending one night when a casting manager noticed his personality and asked to cast him as the bartender for a small movie. Willis was involved in numerous auditions, before finding the role in the romantic comedy of the same name, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His witty and sarcastic P.I. Some see it as a practice run to practice for Willis' role in Die Hard (1988), where he defeated an international gang of thieves in the top of a Los Angeles skyscraper. Willis reprised the role of McClane in the follow-up film, Die Hard 2 (1990) that was set at wintery Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to return a corrupt South American general. A record-breaking box office performance prompted the sequel Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), this time co-starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cynical Harlem shop owner who has been sucked into helping McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist bombing campaign during a hot day in New York.
